Have you ever wondered what it meant when a dentist was a member of the American Dental Association? If so, then our team is happy to tell you all about it!

The ADA is an organization that dentists work extremely hard to be a part of. One thing they need to do is continue their education frequently to keep up with the latest dental technology and treatment. Another thing they need to do is maintain the standards of the ADA each day at work. Those standards are:

Respect a patient’s wants and needs
As a patient, you have the right to be involved in your treatment decisions, and you deserve respect and confidentiality. This standard encourages the dentist to put the patient’s wants and needs at the top of the priority list and to involve the patient in every step of the treatment plan.

Do no harm
It’s your dentist’s job to keep you safe and healthy, which means that she needs to keep up with the latest technology and treatment to give you the best care possible. This also means that your dentist needs to refer you to a different doctor when necessary.

Do good
Your dentist will provide high-quality and timely treatment all while considering your desires, needs, and values. That way your dentist will treat you as an individual and will do whatever is in your best interest.

Be fair
Your dentist will treat everyone fairly and equally, no matter their race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic background, creed, and current health conditions.

Be truthful
Your dentist will be completely honest with you, which will help you and your dentist build a relationship based on trust. Once that trust is developed, you and your dentist can work toward a healthy smile together.

If you visit a dentist who works by these standards and is a member of the American Dental Association, then you are sure to have the best and most successful dental experience possible.
